With the rapid change occurring in the industry, we need a place where we can meet to share our experiences, challenges and solutions. At CloudCamp, you are encouraged to share your thoughts in several open discussions, as we strive for the advancement of Cloud Computing. End users, IT professionals and vendors are all encouraged to participate.

Lightning Talk Speaker Bios:

Bob McDonough is the Cloud Computing Lead Architect for the State of Michigan.  He is the primary author of Michigan’s cloud computing strategy and he is currently leading the pilot of MiCloud – Michigan’s portfolio of government cloud computing functions.  For 9 years, Bob has managed both infrastructure and application developments efforts for the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB). Recently, he led the effort to deliver the Michigan Business One Stop.  Prior to joining DTMB Bob did IT consulting for the pharmaceutical, chemical, telecommunications, logistics and manufacturing industries for 17 years.  He is a graduate of MSU.

Doug Willoughby is currently the Director of Cloud Computing for Compuware, a leading provider of APM tools for Web applications. Prior to Compuware he was at Sun, which he joined in 1988 and where he participated in the development and marketing of some of Sun's most pioneering and disruptive technologies, including Project Spring, Distribute Objects Everywhere (DOE), NextStep/OpenStep, and Java. Willoughby was also part of the team of 14 engineers and architects who developed "network.com" - Sun's first utility computing offering

Josh Holmes is a passionate Microsoft Technology Evangelist who will be discussing Azure. Prior to joining Microsoft in October 2006, Josh was a consultant working with a variety of clients ranging from large Fortune 500 firms to smaller sized companies. Josh is a frequent speaker and lead panelist at national and international software development conferences focusing on emerging technologies, software design and development with an emphasis on mobility and RIA (Rich Internet Applications). Community focused, Josh has founded and/or run many technology organizations from the Great Lakes Area .NET Users Group to the Ann Arbor Computer Society and was on the forming committee for CodeMash. Dianne Marsh will discuss the Google AppEngine. Dianne is co-founder of SRT Solutions and has deeply rooted expertise in software programming and technology, including manufacturing, genomics decision support and real-time processing applications. Dianne works with Unix, Windows, Java, C#, and C++ in enterprise-level applications, and has deep experience with a variety of graphical user interface libraries. A member of Women Presidents Organization, Dianne is also active in CodeMash and various Java user groups. She earned her Master of Science degree in computer science from Michigan Technological University.

Kevin Dangoor will be speaking about project Bespin and Coding in the Cloud .  Kevin is the founder of the  web framework TurboGears, Paver and CommonJS projects. He is a former product manager at SitePen the founders of Dojo. He is co-author of Rapid Web Applications with TurboGears, creator of the TurboGears Ultimate DVD and a frequent presenter at technical conferences. He is currently the product lead of the Mozilla Bespin project. 
 
Dr. Cheng-Zhong Xu will speak about Cloud Management Issues.  Dr. Xu is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Wayne State University and the Director of the Cloud and Internet Computing Laboratory (CIC). He is also the Director of Sun's Center of Excellence in Open Source Computing and Applications (OSCA). Professor Xu's main research interests lie in distributed, parallel, and wireless embedded computing systems, with an emphasis on resource management for system's performance, reliability, availability, power efficiency, and security.  He is an editor of a number of journals, including IEEE Trans. on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS) and J. of Parallel and Distributed Computing (JPDC). Dr. Xu obtained BSc. and MSc. degrees from Nanjing University in 1986, and 1989, respectively, and a Ph.D degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1993, all in Computer Science and Engineering.   Dr. Xu is a recipient of "President's Awards for Excellence in Teaching" of Wayne State University in 2002 and "Career Development Chair Award" in 2003.
